Made in Virginia

Volvo Trucking / IR Engraving

On this episode, we head to the New River Valley to the largest private employer of southwest Virginia, Volvo Trucking, then we travel to Richmond, VA to visit IR Engraving.  They create metal rolls used in various manufacturing processes to emboss, stamp and print materials for aesthetic and various texture applications.

Volvo Trucking

The Volvo Tracking plant in Dublin, Virginia produces all the North American trucks.  The first truck came off the assembly line in September of 1982.  Each truck Volvo produces is completely custom to fit each customers needs.  Every Volvo truck begins the same way, with the highest quality parts brought into their warehouse from suppliers across Virginia, the US and, in some cases, from countries around the world.  But the unique personality of each truck begins to take shape as parts are sequenced into a material flow to build a truck for a specific customer.
