Founded in 1997, Capps Shoe Company started by manufacturing made in America shoes for the wholesale retail market, at a time when most all other domestic shoe factories were closing due to their inability to compete with imports from China. They began solely in women’s fashion shoes in sizes and widths, but due to mom and pop stores declining in America the company shifted to more uniform footwear. In 1998 they won their first contract for the Department of Defense and today it represents a majority of their business. Today, they are one of the largest dress shoe manufacturers in the United States.
